UTPC is set to commemorate at its premises in Mwanza Daudi Mwangosi’s untimely death on 2nd September, 2017, an event to be attended by invited media stakeholders.
The late Mwangosi, formely Iringa Press Club Chairperson and a Channel 10 correspondent based in during his lifetime, was brutally killed at Mufindi District’s village of Nyololo on 2nd September, 2012 by the police force while on duty in confusing circumstances.
As the ugly incident enters its 5th year, UTPC has engaged a Dar es Salaam – based lawyer, Mr. Jebra Kambole in a bid to seek government’s compensation for Mwangosi’s murder.
To that end the lawyer has already been to Iringa to gather some essential facts from the deceased person’s family, intended to be used in the case later on.
In honour of the late Mwangosi, UTPC had pronounced him a hero by presenting Daudi Mwangosi Heroic Journalism & Servanthood Excellence Award to his family in 2012.
The award also won by Mr. Absalom Kibanda, New Habari Company Managing Editor, is to be presented to a new winner to be officially pronounced during this year’s UTPC Members General Meeting (MGM).
