HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Arusha press club (APC) was established in 1992, as the first Press Club in Tanzania and was registered under The societies Act and given a certificate number SO.7346 issued on 4th August 1992. Arusha Press Club is a membership organization led by a board of directors who mainly are journalists working in various media such as Newspapers, Television, Radio and Social Media. Currently APC has 150 members. Members of the board, which is led by the chairperson of the board they elected at the General Meeting
ORGANIZATION, MISSION, VISION AND CORE VALUES
Fundamentally, the organization of the Arusha Press Club is based on the following principles that ensure an effective and efficient realization of its objectives. These principles are,

ACTIVITIES
Apart from its core objectives of uniting all media practitioners and stakeholders in the region, and the whole society, APC has also been undertaking various journalism activities that mainly focus in Advocacy on Human Rights, Democracy and Good Governance.
It has also been at forefront in taking care of social well-being and occupational challenges of its members and non-members whenever needs arise.
APC is also duty bound on making sure her members and their colleagues are well informed on matters pertaining to their profession such as adaption to new technological development, laws and ethics by soliciting and conducting short time training, seminars, workshops in collaboration with various stakeholders both local and international.
A Media that is empowered to effectively participate in the development of democratic processes, combating climate change in the region and country as a whole.
A democratic society fully embracing free, independent, vibrant and robust media in a sphere which is free from pollution.
